I grew up in Boulder, Colorado, and began modeling at age 8 or
9. After building and flying control-line models for several
years, in 1971 I built my first R/C airplane with my Dad as
mentor – an Andrews Models H-Ray. I earned a degree in
Mechanical Engineering and then set aside R/C for several years
while earning my private pilot license. I have enjoyed flying in
the Colorado Rocky Mountains and have accumulated time in seven
airplane types, including Cessna Hawk XP and Piper Super Cub,
and a few flights each in Super Decathlon, and North American
AT-6 Texan.
Responsibilities of life grew and I gave up the full-scale
real-deal and got back into R/C aircraft several years after my
daughter was born. I currently enjoy flying many varieties of
electric R/C at the nearby schoolyard. Even though electric R/C
airplanes can provide impressive unlimited performance, my glow
engines and equipment are in storage for the future when I plan
to finish the partially built 1/5-scale Corsair occupying space
in my garage, and again will make the long drive to the club
flying field…someday.
I didn’t fully realize the gift of God’s love or the importance
of relationship with Him until after the break up of my
marriage. It was then that I knew I hadn’t made my relationship
with God a priority and began working on my relationship with
Him. My daughter is now a senior in high school. I’ve remarried
and have a wonderful wife and step-son. I have been truly
blessed.
The past several years I have been active in the Men’s
Leadership Group at my church and praying for an opportunity
where I can use my skills and interests to spread God’s word.
Those prayers have been answered with my new connection with
FCM.
I will be the R/C Rep for this newsletter and I look
forward to preparing a regular article. The goal is to keep this
a fun and exciting ministry and to that goal, I am soliciting
R/C related text and photographs for publication and web
display. Please also send suggestions/requests/ideas for special
interest R/C articles. Nothing is too small to submit. Thank you
in advance for your contributions and ideas. I look forward to
hearing from you.
Phi 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in
humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you
should look not only to your own interests, but also to the
interests of others.
In Christ,
