Thomas, Peter and I
John chapter 20: 24 - 29 has always been a place in Scripture where I go
when my spiritual strength grows weak. Thomas and his unbelief at the
upper room seem to be a normal human response to that day. In verse 29
Jesus says to Thomas, "Because you have seen me, you believe; blessed are
those who have not seen and yet believed." Jesus tells us we are blessed
and with that in mind the day looks much brighter.
Peter (The Rock) and his denial of Christ before the crucifixion may lead
one to think he committed an unforgivable sin. Yet in John 21:15 -17 Jesus
reinstates Peter by asking him three times, "Do you love me?" The reaction
of the two men shows me that Jesus is not only my Savior, but a close,
personal and caring friend.
So as we close this week's devotions I leave you with these Scriptures.
John 15:12 -13. "My command is this; Love each other as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for a friend."
He laid down his life for all of us. (His friends) That makes my day much
brighter.
