WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL

Well, it's time once again to cut the lawn. I just did that last Friday and this is only Monday. I guess that's what happens when you fertilize! Hmmm....Maybe if I did the same with all my brothers and sisters in Christ?

How do I fertilize within the body if Christ? The first thing that comes to mind is fellowship. We are told in Hebrews chapter ten to assemble together. The purpose? You guessed it. to fertilize. The word there is exhorting one another which means to build up, encourage, strengthen.

How do I do that if I need those things myself? By allowing the others to bless me! You see, if I have an injury, and it takes a long time to heal, the members of my body that take up the slack during the weakening of the injured member become stronger as a result of working more and possibly harder.
It is precisely the same with the body of Christ; anytime I am called on to pray, help in other ways, or whatever, I must choose to respond in some way. When I do, I become stronger.

Just making the decision to act is strengthening, following through is even more so. I have said, to my shame, "Well, all I can do is pray for you." What a cop out. Not that praying is all I can do, but that I said it as though prayer wasn't that much! What I should have said was, "The BEST I can do is pray for you." Then I should look for other ways to serve. I will never say that again.

So gather together, whether at the flying field, the restaurant, at home, or all the above, you never know how much power you can produce that way to bless those around you!

Shalom.
