My time of year – fall. As a well known stunt flyer once
said, “The air is full of vitamins.” My energy level shoots out through
the roof, my activity becomes almost obsessive/compulsive and the family
just shakes it's head at dad and compares me to a “Squirrel gathering nuts
in November”.
The church is in the fall of it’s life. “ How’s that?” you ask. I firmly
believe we are in the last days as described in God’s Holy Word – the
Bible. If that is so, we who claim to know Jesus Christ as Savior need to
be acting like squirrels gathering nuts as far as collecting souls for the
Kingdom of heaven!
Actually, when Jesus called us to “make disciples” in Matthew 28 He was
challenging, no, commanding us to do just that, no matter what time of
history we happen to be in. We don’t need the “gift of evangelism” or to
be a preacher, but we do need to truly believe and care. If we do not, we
need to go to Him and ask His forgiveness and then get into the Word and
change our outlook.
I may seem a bit harsh to you in this challenge, but we seriously do not
have time to be gentle or nice about this thing of challenging each other
about serving Jesus. After all, it’s fall for the church. Shalom. |
