Exodus 4:1-2 Moses answered, "What if they do not
believe me or listen to me and say, 'The LORD did not appear to you'?" 2
Then the LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?" "A staff," he
replied.
God and Moses had this meeting of minds out in the middle of the desert,
and God asked Moses to step up to the plate and lead the Israelites out of
captivity. This was a little much for Moses to take in, so he immediately
began to excuse himself from this incredible task. Moses reminded God of
his speech problem, his troubled past and I’m sure a list of other valid
arguments, all of which God simply ushered aside. When it was all said and
done God began to use Moses to do great and mighty works in his name.
Remember the Red Sea? What about the staff turning into the serpent? The
Nile turning to blood? Don’t forget water from the rock. All of which were
performed by God through Moses. Each time God instructed Moses to use the
staff in his hand to perform these miracles. A walking stick. A shepherd’s
staff. Just a simple piece of wood. God did not require anything from
Moses other than a willing spirit and the use of the resources already in
his possession. He only asked Moses to use what he already had.
What is God asking you to use in your life to perform miracles on His
behalf. You never know it may be a willing spirit and a piece of balsa
wood. What you already have.
God’s blessings and good flying!
