WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL

Intentional with randomness

A pastor friend of mine wrote this in his blog last week and I thought it was worth sharing with you as a way to strengthen a point that was made in a previous week’s devotion. His name is Mike Burns (not related) and is an incredible young leader. His words carry passion and wisdom.

“The events that God pieces together to make something great in our lives are often so "random". We might hear something from someone on the radio and then watch a movie that night from 5 years ago and then read a portion of scripture we've read many times before and then see a billboard advertising fertilizer and BAM! An "aha" moment is right before us. Either we are mental cases that read more into things than we should, or God is an amazing God! He is able to speak through the most random, unique vessels and touch our hearts with his eternal truth.

Our attitude toward life's experiences is often less than encouraging. We tend to view everything as coincidence or a random mass of stuff. Whether God initiates the experience or not, he is still able to use it in a mosaic of organization to accomplish his purposes. And he's very intentional in his work! He does things for specific reasons. So, as we wade through these seemingly random experiences, we must keep in mind that God is very intentional with our randomness. He's working in your life!”

God’s blessings and good flying to all!
